Wildlife Watching

With sprawling natural habitats and virgin forests, Transylvania still is home to a big variety of species commonly roaming the land, including those that are vanishing from the rest of Europe. Brown bears are abundant and large, more elusive carnivores such as lynx and wolves still have promising population numbers

The rolling meadows and forests are home to wild boar, red and roe deer, very frequently spotted from foot or horseback. Also, bird life is strong and can be admired for example in the form of birds of prey, woodpeckers, golden orioles, and bee-eaters.

Storks like spending their summers in Romania, and commonly villages provide a base atop power poles for them to build expansive nests and raise their young.

We are able to organise trips to a local bear hide (subject to availability) operated by the Forest Association for a memorable evening watching wild brown bears form a cabin deep in Stramba Valley.

Please contact us for details on guided excursions with a guide into the surrounding nature.
